OLD KOUD DISTRICT
Discover houses, the Abu Bakr mosque, a gate protected by a wooden canopy and much more in this neighborhood
Koud is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Al Hofuf. Some of its houses date back to the 16th century. The neighborhood starts south of the Old Koot Hotel. As you wander through its alleys you will come across the Abu Bakr mosque and its cistern overlooking the street, which was fed by donkey or man. A little further on, a door protected by a wooden canopy and a plaque (in Arabic) indicate the ribat of Sheikh Abdullah bin Abu Bakr al-Mulla. It was a free hostel for needy travelers, accompanied by a Koranic school.
