This Juatha mosque, built in year 5 of the Hegira (627), is said to be the second-largest mosque in the Islamic world after Medina
When the Juatha leisure park was being created, engineers came across the remains of an ancient mosque. Its existence was suspected, as it is mentioned in ancient accounts. News of the Prophet's move to Medina reached the ears of the inhabitants of Al Ahsa. Some of them went there, and the Prophet is said to have asked them to build a mosque on their return. Built in year 5 of the Hegira (627), it would be the second mosque in the Islamic world, the first being in Medina.
