YELLOW LAKE (ASAFAR LAKE)
This spectacular blue lake (accessible by 4x4) is nestled in yellow sand dunes to the north of the Al Asha oasis.
To the northeast of the oasis, the yellow sand dunes hide a vast swampy area and a lake. A 4x4 and a knowledge of driving on sand are essential to get there. After driving for 40 km, you have to leave the road to take a dusty track. Quickly, we reach a swampy area, with high grass, reeds and shrubs. The track leads to the foot of sand dunes. Climbing to their top, the lake, which is quite blue, emerges between the undulating dunes. The spectacle is magical at sunset.
