UQAIR BEACH
The beach is grandly landscaped to reveal an immense semi-circular structure reminiscent of Rome's Colosseum.
Heading north from Uqair, you'll pass a petrol station. Directly opposite, a road leads off to the right to Uqair beach. The beach has been grandly landscaped by the Saudi government. A huge, two-storey, semi-circular structure pierced by regular arches is reminiscent of Roman amphitheatres, particularly the Colosseum in Rome. Its usefulness, apart from the shadow it casts, remains rather uncertain. A concrete walkway has been laid and numerous street lamps illuminate the site.
