QABIL RAMMED EARTH HOUSES

Taking the path that goes up in front of the archaeological site of Al Ukhdud, you will reach a group of traditional houses of rammed earth. The small group of ten houses stands proudly above the fields. The towers are so high, that some of them look down on the palm trees. The lower buildings are used as storage for grain or to bring in the animals at night. The dwelling houses rise high into the sky and are topped with a crenellated frieze limed in white, just like the window towers.
