Al Dossaria Castle is a military structure built in the early 19th century on the highest point of the town. Atop a small hill 250 meters above sea level, the castle covers an area of 900 square meters. Its high, two-storey walls and four massive towers kept watch over both land and sea. Small openings in the towers and the wall allowed the barrel of a rifle to pass through. Access to the fort was from the rear, and the entrance was deliberately narrow and blind to slow down the enemy.
