Taif hosts one of the most important camel festivals in the country, with more than 500 races organized in a month.

In his drive to expand the cultural offerings in Saudi Arabia, the crown prince launched his own camel festival in 2017. For one month, the best racing camels gather in Taif to compete in one of 532 organized races. With US$14 million in prizes, the festival is designed to promote the tradition of camel racing in the Arab world. More than 10,000 animals participate annually in different categories.
