Muslim cemetery housing the remains of the Prophet's daughter and grandson, as well as Imam Abu Abdallah al-Malik ibn Anas.

To the east of and directly connected to the Al-Nabawi mosque, the al-Baqi cemetery is the first Muslim cemetery. This is where the Prophet's daughter and grandson are buried. Imam Abu Abdallah al-Malik ibn Anas, founder of one of the 4 great orthodox currents of Islam, is also buried here. You won't see any names on the tombs, nor any mausoleums, all destroyed by the Wahhabis under a fatwa aimed at preventing extra-canonical pilgrimages. In Islam, only God is worshipped, and idolatry is forbidden.
