QADEER FORTRESS
This fortress, built to defend the village from attack, is Sakakah's oldest historical vestige.
The Al Qadeer fortress is Sakakah's oldest historical vestige. It was erected in 1124 to defend the village from possible aggression. It was built from locally quarried pink sandstone and covered with a clay-based mud plaster. Little remains of the structure, with only the two towers, a staircase and an old well visible. Inscriptions predating the fort were left by passing nomads on the rocks surrounding the fort. One can clearly make out hands or a man on horseback.
