AL RADHM PALACE
The Al-Radhm fortress dates back to Babylonian times and is one of the oldest buildings in Saudi Arabia.
The fortress of Al-Radhm dates back to Babylonian times. It may have been built by King Nabonidus in the 6th century BC, when he controlled trade in the region. The ruins of the castle are west of the well of Hadaj, on the northern edge of the present city. The castle was rectangular in shape and built of stone blocks. It is one of the oldest buildings in Saudi Arabia, of which unfortunately only the base of the walls remain. It is perhaps their thickness of nearly 3 m that allowed them to resist time.
