ÉGLISE SAINT-JOSEPH DE PALE
A wooden Catholic church built in the Tyrolean style, Pale's most elegant place of worship.
While Pale has several Serbian Orthodox churches, the most elegant place of worship here is this Catholic church (Crkva Svetog Josipa/Црква Светог Јосифа). Built of wood in the Tyrolean style, however, it takes the bulbous bell tower of the local Serbian churches. It was erected in 1911 for the Austro-Hungarian elite. It later became the parish church of the Catholic community of the Romanija plateau, Aromanian lumberjacks and shepherds who are now assimilated to the Bosnian-Croats.
