NÉCROPOLE MÉDIÉVALE DE MEĐUGORJE
Necropolis featuring 62 stećci, including 14 in the shape of richly decorated "chests", a Unesco World Heritage site.
This site (Nekropola Stećaka Međugorje) is one of the twenty-two medieval necropolises in the country listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016. It houses sixty-two stećci, fourteen of which are in the form of a "chest" and are richly decorated: scenes of hunting on horseback with deer and boar, intertwined dragons, a dance scene, a rider in the company of a haloed figure, vegetal motifs... The name Međugorje means "between two hills," like the village in the Čapljina region.
