Karstic plain crossed by two partly underground rivers, the Gračanica and Mušnica, which feed the Trebišnjica.
This karst plain (Gatačko Polje/Гатачко поље) extends 24 km in length from Montenegro in the southeast to the lignite mines of Gacko in the northwest. Averaging 3.6 km wide and studded with dolines (circular cavities), it is crossed by two partly underground rivers, the Gračanica and the Mušnica, which feed the Trebišnjica that flows through Trebinje. The polje can be traversed to the southeast along the R432 through Avtovac. The polje was the scene of a battle between the Serbian king Uroš and his son Dragutin in 1276.
