MONASTÈRE DE GORICA
Catholic monastery housing a large church with a nave and two bell towers, a novitiate, a Franciscan museum and the Gorica Gallery.
This Catholic monastery dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul (Franjevački Samostan Svetog Petra i Pavla) belongs to the Franciscan order and was erected from 1854. Its large church, consecrated in 1891, was modified by the great Sarajevian architect of Austro-Hungarian origin Josip Vancaš (1859-1932) with the addition of reinforced concrete vaults in the nave and a second bell tower in 1906. The complex was then constantly expanded until 1985. It houses a novitiate (for the training of priests) as well as the Franciscan Museum and the Gorica Gallery.
