MOSQUÉE BALAGUŠA
An ancient domed mosque with a 20.60 m-high minaret, a three-domed porch and an almost square prayer hall.
This mosque (Balaguša Džamija) was founded between 1515 and 1550 by a donor named Balagija from Ljubunčić (17 km northwest), which would make it the oldest domed mosque in the country. Dominated by a pretty little minaret 20.60 m high, it is also called the Sharia mosque (Čaršijska Džamija), since it was the center of the Ottoman city. Preceded by a three-coupled porch, the prayer hall almost forms a square (8.47 x 8.53 m) and preserves original frescoes and a beautifully carved minbar and mihrab.
