Bronze equestrian statue in front of the town hall representing Peter Karađorđević, King of Serbia, then of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes.
This bronze equestrian statue (Spomenik Kralju Petru I Karađorđeviću/Споменик Краљу Петру I Карађорђевићу) stands in front of the town hall, a neoclassical building from 1912. Erected in 1993, it is a replica of the statue installed here in 1937 and destroyed in 1941. It depicts Peter I Karađorđević (1844-1921), king of Serbia (1903-1918), and then of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (1918-1921). The ruler terraces a man with three heads: it is an allegory of Christianity triumphing over other religions symbolized by Triglav, an ancient Slavic three-headed deity.
