PONT PAVLOVIĆ
A 180-m bridge named after millionaire Slobodan Pavlović, linking Bosnia-Herzegovina to Serbia over the Drina River.
This 180-meter-long bridge (Pavlovića Ćuprija/Павловића Ћуприја) connects Bosnia and Herzegovina to Serbia across the Drina River. Completed in 1996, it bears the name of the man who financed it, the millionaire Slobodan Pavlović. This Bosnian-Serb born here in 1938 and emigrated to the United States returned in 1991. He bought out a Bosnian bank and businesses, even founding 4 km before the bridge the Slobomir ("peace and freedom") University. In 2016, money laundering charges forced him to abandon his plan to create a city on either side of the bridge.
