Wetland reserve near the Drina, home to 90 species of birds and one of the world's oldest known vertebrates: the dogfish.
This 831 ha wetland (Posebni Rezervat Prirode Gromiželj/Посебни Резерват Природе Громижељ) is located near the confluence of the Sava and Drina rivers. Classified since 2011, it has 90 species of birds (black stork, purple heron, little egret...). The site is also home to one of the oldest known vertebrates in the world: the dogfish(Umbra krameri), a species aged 25 million years. This small fish (15 cm for 30 g) can survive out of water for ten hours.
