FORÊT PRIMAIRE DE ŽUČA-RIBNICA
A "primary" forest, home to white fir, Balkan beech, spruce, ash and sycamore maple.
This 32 ha forest (Prašuma Žuča-Ribnica) is called "primary" because it has not undergone any visible transformation by man. It is located at 960 m above sea level in the middle of a wooded area that was exploited since the 19th century. But within a radius of 300 m around the source of the Žuča (a tributary of the Ribnica), the trees have been left intact. There are mainly white fir, Balkan beech and spruce, as well as ash and sycamore maple.
