ÉGLISE SAINTE-EUPHÉMIE DE KALLMET
Small Catholic church perched 400 m above sea level. Beautiful views. Rock carving of Saint Euphemia of Chalcedon.
Founded in the 13th century, rebuilt in 1629 and recently restored, this Catholic church (Kisha Shën Eufemia) is perched 400 m above sea level beneath Mount Sheshit të Velës (1,049 m). With its promontory adorned with a cross, it offers fine views over the Lezha region and the Adriatic coast. It is dedicated to the martyred Saint Euphemia of Chalcedon, who died in 305 in what is now Istanbul. Inside, her image is carved directly into the rock.
