LE VILLAGE DE BERUA
An authentic village to visit in Rammang, with houses scattered around a vast lake amidst karst hills.
Thousands of years ago, the village of Berua, which translates as "New Village", was a vast lake amidst karst hills that developed its own magnetism. The imposing karst hills and the river leading to the rocky basin form the entrance to the village.
The village, made up of houses scattered around the lake, is accessible by wooden paths on stilts. Some of these paths have recently been "renovated" by the government, using synthetic materials which, while practical, take some of the charm out of the landscape.
