Saltwater lake surrounded by steep hills and offering stunning panoramic views, ideal for swimming, diving, etc.
Located around 15 km south of the town of Raha, Lake Napabale is a natural wonder. Surrounded by steep hills, this enchanting spot offers stunning panoramic views. Surprisingly enough, you'll find this place sometimes referred to as a beach or a lake... It's actually a saltwater lagoon linked to the ocean by a 30x9-metre natural tunnel leading to the Gulf of Buton. The lake water is therefore slightly salty. Local fishermen also use this tunnel to access the sea. In the middle of the lake you'll find three beautiful cup-shaped coral reefs, adding to the beauty of the site.
Boats can be hired directly from the jetty for a leisurely trip on the lake to admire the incredible scenery. The experience is also much appreciated by the locals, so opt for a weekday visit for greater peace and quiet.
At Napabale, a lake surrounded by Pandanus, you can swim, dive or snorkel, discovering the unique ecosystem beneath the calm green waters. You can hire a local"pincara" boat for around IDR 50,000, sail through the tunnel to the beach on the Gulf of Buton or simply explore the lake. This charming boat will often be operated by a local fisherman, who will also act as an impromptu tour guide, giving you an authentic off-the-beaten-track experience. The white sandy beach at the finish line is just as spectacular, completing your adventure at Lake Napabale.
