This hall was part of the Tonk royal palace complex. Built in the late 19th century by the nawab of Tonk, it was intended as a venue for recitals, dance performances and poetry readings. The nawab's pronounced taste for the arts is reflected in the hall's delicate architecture, with paintings adorning the ceilings, pillars and arches, and stained glass windows imported from Belgium projecting plays of color onto the whitewashed walls. The site is managed by the Indian government, and the hardest part is finding the janitor to gain access.
