PARC DE MUSKAU
Considered one of the largest nature parks in Central Europe, Muskau Park(Muskauer Park in German and Mużakowski Park in Polish) was created at the instigation of the ambitious Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau back in 1815, inspired as he was by numerous trips to England, where he discovered a real passion for castles across the Channel.
Geographically, the park stretches along both sides of the River Neisse, on German and Polish territory, from the town of Bad Muskau in Germany to the town of Łęknica in Poland, making it an obvious curiosity.
In 2004, UNESCO declared the park and its many monuments a World Heritage Site. A visit is therefore a must, bearing in mind that you need to take your time to discover its secrets and beauties.
The park's winding paths regularly offer breathtaking panoramic views, making the walk even more enjoyable. The river Neisse, which runs through the park, has been masterfully integrated by the park's designers to serve the prince. It's all about balance and ingenuity. Highlights of the park include the imposing and romantic Old Castle, the Royal Gardens, the Thermal Park and the English Bridge (rebuilt in 2011), where you can take a short excursion to the Polish side, where delightful cafés await you.
You'll have no trouble seeing that the site is magnificent and inspiring. A fine symbol of German-Polish friendship in a turbulent history.
