HÔTEL OLYMPION BEACH
Archaeological site: remains of a Christian basilica with three naves and a large mosaic on the floor under cover.
This archaeological site houses the remains of a5th-century Christian basilica (Παλαιοχριστιανική Βασιλική Σωφρονίου/Palaiochristianiki Vasiliki Sofroniou). Under cover, the three-aisled building retains a large mosaic floor with a superb scene of the Fountain of Life, where a stag and a doe come to drink, symbolizing catechumens preparing for baptism. An inscription indicates that the basilica was founded (or enlarged) by a bishop named Sofronios.
