OELENBERG ABBEY
Abbey loaded with history on one of the last hills of Sundgau, welcomes the faithful for spiritual retreats.
Founded in 1046, it was originally a monastery of Canons Regular of Saint Augustine. Situated on one of the hills of the Sundgau region, the building has had an eventful history, and has been partially destroyed on several occasions. The abbey was sold during the French Revolution, and Trappist monks moved in in 1825. They still live by the Cistercian rule of poverty. The monastic store offers 3,000 product references from a variety of sectors: flour and pasta from the Oelenberg mill, food supplements, cosmetics, beer, religious objects...
