Ribeauvillé has squares decorated with fountains in Renaissance style, with the Maison des Ménétriers presenting a sculpted oriel
The historic stronghold of the powerful Ribeaupierre family, who held sway over the region from the Middle Ages to the French Revolution, Ribeauvillé is packed with interesting buildings and squares adorned with Renaissance-style fountains. The Maison des Ménétriers features a superb oriel carved with an Annunciation to the Virgin Mary. There's also the 13th-century belfry with its beautiful clock, the former Augustins convent church (14th-century late Gothic), and Saint-Grégoire church, which houses the Ribeaupierre vault and the oldest organ in the region.
