The 18-metre-high Thieves' Tower was a prison and seat of justice where life was unpleasant
Built in 1335, the 18-metre-high Tour des Voleurs (Thieves' Tower) lives up to its name, as it was a prison in the 14th century and the seat of justice until the 18th century. Torture chamber, trapdoor, dungeon, interrogation room with torture instruments - this was not a good place to live, and thieves didn't come out unscathed. The Thieves' Tower adjoins a winegrower's house dating back to the 16th century. Furniture, kitchen utensils and wine-making tools are on display. Allow around 45 minutes for the tour.
