CHÂTEAU DU SCHOENECK
Ruins of the fortified castle built around 1200 with the remains of the dwellings and the pentagonal keep, some remains of rooms and wells
After about half an hour's walk (if you're going uphill, make sure you're properly equipped), you'll reach the ruins of Schoeneck castle. Built around 1200 and restored in the 16th and 17th centuries, you'll still see the remains of the 13th-century dwellings and pentagonal keep, the entrance protected by two artillery bastions and some interesting remains of rooms and wells. The château offers a magnificent, breathtaking view of the surrounding hills and valleys. From here, you can reach the Windstein castles.
