LAKE SEWEN
Lake nestled at the bottom of a glacial valley, the only unmodified natural lake in Alsace at Sewen.
Nestled at the bottom of a glacial valley, Sewen has more than one particularity in its lake! This peat bog is the only natural unmodified lake in Alsace. A Natura 2000 area with an exceptional environment, it abounds in endemic protected species: beavers, sphagnums and droséras. Beware! Fragile, the peat is spreading and the lake is closing. Avoid leaving the marked paths; by chance a walk will allow you to walk along this magnificent lake and enjoy its calm before arriving at the foot of the impressive Alfeld lake dam.
