Dinan's fortifications are among the largest and best preserved in Brittany.
With 2.5 kilometers of curtain walls, 10 towers and 4 gates, these fortifications, built between the 13th and 15th centuries, were the third largest stronghold in Brittany. Today, they are the largest and best-preserved fortifications in the region. The Promenade de la Duchesse Anne offers superb views over the Rance valley, the port and the viaduct. Access is via the Jardin Anglais or 18, rue du Général de Gaulle. Another attractive section is the chemin de ronde, between 20 rue de l'École and 9 rue Michel, overlooking the Jerzual.
