The rail museum in Dinan, presenting collections of static and dynamic model railways, historical lines
Lovers of locomotives and trains, do not miss this beautiful railway experience. Unique in Brittany, the Rail Museum, supported by the association of the Friends of the Dinannais Rail, will amaze young and old railroad enthusiasts. Integrated into the SNCF station, it houses collections of static and dynamic models, collections (posters, clocks, lanterns, locomotives and stations plates, model trains...), line histories, the reconstructed Vignier 1889 signal box, video projections... A magical moment!

The ratings and reviews below reflect the subjective opinions of members and not the opinion of The Little Witty.
Outside, the windows are blanked and it looks unattractive and iniviting, and you have to search for the entrance (located within the main station building actually).
The displays are cluttered and rather random. Some items are so high up they are almost out of sight.
It advertises itself as an attraction for children but it is very UNinteractive. There are several small model railway layouts but they are static. They’d be so much better if there was, say, push button operation that visiting children could use to start trains. There is one very large layout which does have several moving trains, but they are operated by a gentleman enthusiast, with no interaction with the public. There is a barrier round the layout and small children cannot see all the would-be-interesting models as they are far across the layout.
The cost of admission (€5 for adults and €4 for children 4 and over in 2023) is a little excessive for what it is. We took a 2 year old and a 4 year old and were a little disappointed, hence the low rating.
