BIENASSIS CASTLE
This historic monument of the 15th and 17th centuries presents a complete set of seigneurial residence.
A majestic pink sandstone château, this historic monument dating from the 15th and 17th centuries is a complete seigneurial residence. Originally a fortified castle, rebuilt in the 17th century, it fell into oblivion in the 19th century. Purchased by Admiral de Kerjégu in 1880, and still owned and lived in by his descendants, the château is now open to visitors, both inside and out, with guided and self-guided tours and audio guides. Outside, you'll discover a beautiful formal garden, a woodland park, a magnificent 18th-century kitchen garden, hundreds of rose bushes, stables, a chapel, a mini-farm... An immense oak-lined avenue leads up to the crenellated surrounding walls, surrounded by a moat. The interior tour, confined to the first floor, is an opportunity to retrace the history of this noble residence, thanks to an introduction via a virtual reality mask. You'll then discover the entrance hall, the majestic staircase, the grand salon, the guard room, the kitchen and the dining room. An interesting testimony to the evolution of château life from the 15th century to the present day. In summer, Château de Bienassis hosts a wide range of events, including storytelling evenings. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, a family treasure hunt in the footsteps of the white ermine offers a fun immersion in the history of Brittany. A son et lumière show, also focusing on the region's history, is organized every two years. The next one is scheduled for 2026.
