At the end of the 1180 th (circa), on the schistose spur overlooking the Bound valley, a medieval castle rises to La Chèze to mark the authority of the Vicomté de. The fortress then passes into the hands of the family of Rohan in 1231 and becomes one of the main residences of the Dukes with that of Josselin. In the th and th centuries, the castle was a high place of political power in Brittany. From the th century, the castle is completely declining. In 1629, this is the kick of grace. it was dismantled on order of Richelieu. Part of the stones are sold on August 25, 1743 and are used to build the new church of Loudéac. Today, the renovation project of the castle is reborn to update the remains and consolidate the five still visible towers. The site is one of the few and oldest sites of the medieval heritage of the Côtes-d'Armor.
