THE PRAT TIDE MILL
Mill with exhibitions on the origins and techniques of milling at La Vicomté-sur-Rance.
Built in the 15th century at the head of the Rance ria, the Prat mill used tidal energy to turn its millstones. It ceased operations in the 1920s. Restored in the 2000s by passionate volunteers, its millstones are once again turning as they once did. There are exhibitions on the origins and techniques of milling, and on the hydraulic motor, as well as slide shows on the fifteen or so tide mills on the Rance. Today, the Prat mill is the only one still in working order.
