THE BRIDGE
Reconstructed bridge with a single large central stone arch at Lehon.
As early as the Roman period, there was a ford on the Rance allowing the ancient Corseul-Rennes road to cross the river. It was replaced by a wooden bridge in the 10th century and stone replaced wood between the 15th and 16th centuries. In 1925, the bridge was rebuilt with a single large central stone arch but during the Second World War, the Germans blew it up to slow down the liberation movement in France. For the anecdote, a dinghy allowed a perilous crossing of the Rance river until its reconstruction in 1946.
