LOCARN MOORS AND CORONG GORGES
A 6-kilometre trail on the vast Breton moors, where you can discover the wealth of gorse and heather.
These heaths extend over 350 hectares, making it one of the largest remaining in the region. Brittany was once largely covered by these plant formations, which were an essential resource for farmers. Six kilometres of paths have been laid out to allow you to discover its rich palette of colours, while respecting the site: gorse and heather alternate with sphagnum mosses in the peat bogs, overflown by the Hen Harrier. Here and there, a few menhirs bear witness to the very ancient occupation of the place. A pretty preamble to the Corong gorges, accessible by a marked circuit. Below the moors, in the heart of the forest of Duault, this immense granite chaos, born from the erosion exerted by the Follezou stream, forms a fascinating landscape, conducive to legends. It is also said that the chaos was created by the giant Boudédé, who removed these embarrassing stones from his shoes. To access the site directly, choose the Corong car park, to the north-east of the circuit. All you have to do is walk down the path to admire the gorges and the chaos. With a bit of luck, you will see otters along the way! If you wish to enhance your visit with a stroll in the moors, take the discovery trail that starts at the Quélénec car park, on the road to Saint-Nicodème. Last option, the car park of Le Guellec to the west, which will take you down the gorges, just at the level of the chaos.
