CHAPEL OF OUR LADY OF MERCY
Take the Plélauff road from the village of Mellionnec and turn three kilometres to the left; you will arrive at the Pitié beautiful site, judge for yourself: a double lock on the channel from Nantes to Brest, a wooded hill, the remains of a Roman bridge buried deep in a cove channel, all on an old prehistoric camp ... The chapel was built in the sixteenth century with full stone, which gives it a certain charm. This kind of construction is very common in central Brittany, especially with four solid wood buttresses at the four corners and two supporting the wall of the apse. Luckily, the chapel was not damaged during the Revolution. From the outside or inside, you can see the wooden barrel vault and collar beams decorated with mouldings.
To sound a little bit idyllic, Pitié enjoys its own legend: indigenous of the place could have buried the statue of Notre-Dame-de-la Pitie nearby, near the Clarity Fountain dominated by a secular yew....
