In 1083, Count Geoffrey of Penthièvre donated land to the monks to create a church, a market town and work buildings. His intention was to educate the local population, considered archaic, to re-establish faith and develop agriculture and animal husbandry. Saint-Martin became a parish in 1206. In the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, the southern chapel was built and the north transept renovated. In the eighteenth century, the vestry was raised. Restored in 2010, it today reveals magnificent traces of medieval frescoes but also altars and statues of the eighteenth century, three parts of the sculptor, Yves Corlay. Fully restored in the nineteenth century, it is classified a historical monument since 1907.
