Donated to Briant de Lannion by Charles V for his services during the war of succession, the Tidal Mill was built in the 14th century and is located on the dyke linking the town of Perros-Guirec to Trégastel. In 1888, the mill was extended by Pierre Geoffroy and was called “milin ruz” or “Moulin rouge” due to its red tiles. In 1892, the feudal lord Abdank de Costaérés used it for ice making, with the help of a Pictet machine. About 450 kilogrammes of ice was produced per hour which was useful for the conservation of fish by the Ploumanac'h fishermen. This activities stop during the First World War.
