GALLO-ROMAN HOGOLO BATHS
Thermal baths covered and protected by a dune for fifteen centuries, with a cold section and warm and hot rooms.
Unearthed in 1892, these thermal baths, built in the 1st century A.D. and covered and protected by a dune for fifteen centuries, are remarkably well preserved. After the cold section, the warm and hot rooms were built by creating a void under the floor and inside the walls, through which the heat from carefully placed fireplaces circulated. Restored in 1992, they offer a beautiful view of the mouth of the Douron river.
