CHAPELLE DE WOHLFARTSHOFFEN
Wohlfastshoffen chapel in Dauendorf, considered a place of pilgrimage to the Virgin Mary and Saint Wolfgang
Count Philip IV of Hanau-Lichtenberg, a Lutheran, had the nave demolished in 1579. He then claimed ownership of the site, which he eventually obtained. The chapel is a place of pilgrimage to the Virgin Mary and to St. Wolfgang, patron saint of cattle. It is also said to be useful for barren women, who can come here to seek help. In fact, the Virgin and Christ come down from their altar at night to the nearby spring to bring back the long-awaited child.
