FRENCH DOOR
A remarkable gate facing the Fecht, built in the century, a work full of history in Turckheim, to discover.
Dating from the 14th century, this massive and imposing gate is one of the three emblematic gates of this medieval city. The Porte de France was once used for economic exchanges and was equipped with a drawbridge and a portcullis, turrets but also doors that were closed at nightfall. It has successively borne the coat of arms of the Holy Roman Empire and Louis XIV. Its pointed roof is home to a stork's nest and you can see them if you open your eyes wide. A monument not to be missed during your stay in the city.
