Column located in the Grimaldi square, built in 1858 for the hundredth anniversary of the battle of Saint-Cast.
This granite column of 18 m is located in the Grimaldi square. It is surmounted by a greyhound, one of those present on the Breton arms, overcoming the British leopard. It was built in 1858 on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the battle of Saint-Cast. This important event of the 7 years war opposed France and England and the column gives an account of the fight which took place in 1758. In two and a half hours, the English troops who came to shelter from the storm in the bay of Saint-Cast were surrounded by the French army.
