ISLET OF THE DOVECOTE
A bird sanctuary for three species of terns, accessible on foot at low tide on a regulated basis, except in summer.
Brittany is home to all of France's breeding terns. Three species find refuge on the islet of La Colombière, including roseate terns, one of Europe's rarest seabirds. Thanks to the protection program, every year, civic services, volunteers and Bretagne Vivante employees carry out guarding, colony monitoring and ringing, guaranteeing their peace and quiet so that they can reproduce. The islet is accessible on foot at low tide, but subject to strict regulations. It is a sanctuary in fine weather.
