THE YEUN-ELEZ
Yeun is a Breton word for "swamp". Elez is a river which derives its source from Mont Saint-Michel de Braspart. The whole thing is a huge basin surrounded by mountains, some more than 380 m high. This is a great place which consists of both half dry large marshes and partly rocky masses lost in the land. As for its wild side, it seems to extend without limit. Sometimes, depending on the time, it takes a sinister appearance and gives the landscape a mysterious side. The ancient peat bogs were mostly absorbed by the artificial Saint-Michel reservoir also called Lake Nestavel. Many hiking trails have been built and one can observe interesting fauna and flora in these areas.
