This magnificent schooner is the symbol of Brest's maritime festivals, allowing visitors to relive the history of sailing.
This magnificent schooner was launched with great fanfare in July 1992, during the city's first maritime festival. Named after Brest's oldest and most emblematic district, she has become a symbol of the city's maritime festivals. A replica of an 1817 aviso, whose role was to carry mail and monitor trade on the coasts of Africa and the West Indies, the ship is 41.20 m long. Owned by the city of Brest, she takes part in major nautical events (notably the famous Brest maritime festivals, held every four years), heritage boat gatherings and the start of major ocean races. Climbing aboard this boat is like touching history, reliving the great era of the sailing navy... with the added bonus of comfort! Several options are available. You can opt for a half-day or full-day outing, or a 2 to 6-day cruise (in the Iroise or around the Isles of Scilly, for example). You can also enjoy a special evening on La Recouvrance, which, in season, cruises the harbor until sunset, while enjoying seafood! It's an experience not to be missed: who can claim to have sailed on a schooner? Embarking on La Recouvrance is also an opportunity to meet sailors happy to share their world and their natural environment. Please note La Recouvrance can be privatized, at sea or alongside the quay, for groups, associations or companies.
