One of the oldest cemeteries in Brest where you can walk in peace and quiet while admiring the works of the Poilleu marble workers.
This is the oldest cemetery in Brest. The main entrance is located on Yves-Collet Street but can be accessed from Kerjean-Vras Street or Guilhem Street. In this peaceful place, you can walk in peace or relax. You can also admire the works of the Poilleu marble workers, who were, in the 19th century, the tenors of the Abers granite (the tomb of a young girl, Léontine Besnou, was awarded a medal at the London World Fair in 1851). The Saint-Martin cemetery also houses the famous funeral medallion representing Auguste Salaün-Penquer, mayor of Brest from 1871 to 1880, sculpted by Bartholdi, co-author of the Statue of Liberty.
