AMERICAN MONUMENT
The American monument was built in 1927 on the promenade of Cours Dajot to commemorate the participation of American soldiers in the First World War. Destroyed during the Second World War, this 50-metre high polished granite tower of Ploumanac'h was rebuilt identically in 1958. Dominating the port of Brest, it also enjoys the status of extraterritoriality, letting us see a small piece of America! A few meters further on is the staircase leading to the commercial port, immortalized in Remorques, Roger Vercel's novel and Jean Grémillon's film. It is rare to be able to go up there. For more information, contact the town hall.
