PONT DE L'IROISE

Built from 1991 in an environment with strong constraints like the wind and the salinity with an aim to improve the traffic situation that became difficult on the Albert-Louppe bridge, it was inaugurated in 1994. Its architecture, its elegance and the fact it is a listed as a classified site deserve it a Ruban d'Or national prize in 1995. It has the third longest main span of the French stay-cable bridges (length between two pillars), behind the Pont de Normandie and the Saint-Nazaire Bridge, right in front of the Millau Viaduct. To contemplate this 800 m length construction, you just need to go on the Albert-Louppe bridge, which is now reserved to the pedestrians, the two-wheeled vehicles and the slow vehicles (a parking area is at guest's disposal). We advise you to circulate on the bridge of Iroise, pay attention with your speed, the maximum speed is 90 km/h (there is a fixed speed camera at the bottom of the bridge toward Quimper-Brest)!
